It was yesterday evening, when an Ariane 5 ECA launcher lifted off from Europe's spaceport in French Guiana. It has one big mission. Ariane has to place two satellites into geostationary transfer orbits. This is first time when Arianespace's ELA-3 launch complex performed six Ariane 5 missions in one year. Arianespace's ELA-3 launch complex at the Spaceport is very famous and one from the world's most modern complexes and was built by Europe. This complex was built especially for Ariane 5 heavy&lift vehicle. It is able to lift off about 10 Ariane 5 missions per year. This year this spaceport prepared 6 missions, but in next few years it could be more and more. Maybe they will reach the number 10. Is it really possible? I don't know. But on their web page they have written, that they need only 20 working days to prepare a rocket to lift off the Earth. But is it right information? Rocket that was already lifted off is very useful for many reasons. This rocket has the British military communications satellite Skynet 5B on board. This satellite is designed to operate until 2020. Its position will be over the Indian Ocean. New spacecraft is designed to resist disruptions by lasers and electromagnetic pulses emitted by nuclear weapons. This new technology is also immune to jamming signals. Maybe this spacecraft will be very useful for our world, but results we will see only after few years.

The number of passengers on these tracks is circulating in thousands every day. That is one of the main reasons why Eurostar began an entirely high-speed train service between these popular cosmopolitan cities and made transportation even faster. New comfortable trains can this way provide better services for bigger amount of travelers and effectively compete with cars or planes within Europe. They seem fast enough so far.

Chris Cantell annouces eBay"s bomb suspicions

On Wednesday, around 9 a.m., eBay's headquarters were evacuated due to a suspicious-looking package, found in the company's mailroom. Everything turned out to be a false alarm and the evacuated employees were allowed to return to their daily tasks. EBay's spokesman Hani Durzy did not gave any details of the incident, nor about what triggered the suspicion of bomb. This event happens about a year distance after at another eBay office in North San Jose someone set off a pipe bomb. Although no one was injured by the blast, it did create a sort of concerns that eventually were put off due to the lack of leads that ended the investigation. More than 200 employees were evacuated from one of the nine buildings of the online auction company's headquarters. All the fuss was stirred by a package found by workers in the mailroom. There is no information on what lead to the conclusion that the package contains a bomb. According to San Jose police officer Jermaine Thomas the dispatchers were informed about the suspicious package 24 minutes after the workers found it. In consequence the intersection of Bascom and Hamilton streets on the border between San Jose and Campbell was also blocked during the inspection of the threatening object. Durzy said that the entire matter is not unusual and despite the fact that it happened before, because eBay is a company and an entity in Silicon Valley threats like this are supposed to take place. All the other companies have to deal with the same thing. So, buy now, while you still can. Who knows what maniac will blow up the famous online auction company and there goes the chance for an average worker to acquire cheap things. Enjoy!

The big boss

I have always liked that idea in old movies, when people were hiding their money in socks or under their bed. It was so cute. They were always worried about it. These days everybody knows, that this is not the safest way how to protect your money. We have many possibilities where to put it - we have so many banks to choose. Especially in the country big like the US. There are tons of banks. Like in every other country, they have to have a special system how to coordinate these banks and protect people. In the US is this system called Federal Reserve System. It's something like a central bank of the US. It has many functions, like fighting (of course in a special financial way) against financial crisis, strike the "gap" or difference between private banks and parts of government, which take care of money, regulate this private institutions. This system also represents the US in the world economics markets, and provide financial services for the government. Very important part of its functions is managing of nation's monetary supply and high employment, stable prices in the whole county and of course it manage interest rates. Right now they are discussing about this rates, maybe they will be able to put these rates on lower level at the end, so they can take at least 0.5 off. All this because the Federal Reserve System, called also FED, is trying to help their slow economics. The meeting should be done on Wednesday. So we will see how it will end.

Is the Earth in save?

Our world is still in danger. I hope we do not have to think about the end of world yet but scientists still monitor Earth and space. Just in case. There is a lot of movies in which happen some disaster and people try to save their lives. And of course in this horrible situation, close to death they fall in love. These movies always finish with happy end. Maybe we don't realize that this situation can really happen but there don't have to be very nice end. Technology and science help us to monitor and solve some problem. We can be happy that there is a lot of people interested in it and they work for us. Spy satellite is one part of technology. It is communication satellite which inform us about the situation in space. This satellite was launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California in 2006. It is called L-21 It is expected its crash on the Earth the next moth. But don't worry, our planet consist of water in 75 percent and there is a lot of land without people so it shouldn't fall in to populated area. They said that they had no control over the satellite. To be honest I don't understand it. How can they launch anything to the space and then don' t have control. I am afraid that if some disaster really happened it would be people's mistake. Spy satellite shouldn't crash to Earth but it is now. What can happen later? What is waiting for us? Maybe the next time it will tumble on your country...to your city and on your house. It is horrible imagination. And then people from NASA just say you that they are sorry but they didn't have control over it. Maybe there is many space objects which crashed on the Earth and people don't know about it. The reason can be that satellite or something similar fell on empty area or because the effect was really wrong and maybe it killed somebody but they had to hide it. People should be very careful. Specially scientists who take care about all world and their actions could influence our existence.

Los Angeles, Hollywood - The first things that I think about when I hear these words is red carpet, famous people, actors, singers...It is something what I will never try. We can only read about it. Journalist write about them and we believe it. Sometimes it is true, sometimes gossips. At the moment the situation in Los Angeles is a little difficult. Sometimes I think that they have nothing to solve so they are looking for some troubles. Strike by the Writers Guild of America,East (WGAE) and the Writers Guild of America, West (WGAW) where the two labor unions representing film, television and radio writers strike against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) representing the interests of American film and television producers started on November 5, 2007. There is about 12 000 writers whose joined the strike. Writers Guild of America strike influenced TV and movie production. A lot of television shows like CSI:Miami, Lost, Big Brother, Shark are affected and show's focus was in risk. Everybody wants to know if is it strike coming to the end. Nobody knows what else they will contrive. Writers have agreed to work on the upcoming Grammy Awards. They have signed an interim. I think that nobody knows how long it will last but everything is just only about money. If they find out that they can have money from it they will continue. Money are king of the world.

Money...they are so important for people. Dollar, euro, crown, yen, pound...we just love them. Their valuation is still in move. One day dollar is $1.4785 against the euro, $1.9860 against the pound or Y105.99 against the dollar. But the other day it is different. Everything is just only about numbers. Do you understand it? Why? How can anybody be interested about it? Maybe it is a little boring but we have to realize that these numbers are very important because they influence a lot of things. It would be better to fix it and not move. But there is a lot of factors which influence it. For example war, turbulent world and people's wish to be king of the world. The price of oil depends on dollar. What is situation now? Dollar is still lower now and the price of oil is very high. Then naphtha, electric, cosmetics are expensive. Yes, cosmetics. Do you know that oil is very important part for making of cosmetics? All your dopes, body lotions, perfumes...They need oil. World needs energy. Of course, it depends on oil. Defect of black gold, how people call it, is global problem. Do you know what can happen? After 50 years we will have no oil, no energy, maybe no cosmetics. We should more think about it and try to save it. Scientists try to invent something what we can use instead of it. But it is very difficult. Exchange rate is also important for traveling. Today, a lot of people, specially students travel because they want to earn money. Because the exchange rate is profitable and they can earn more money in foreign country like at home. Then all of these travelers became economist and suddenly they start to understand crazy numbers and they know what is the most profitable for them. I know that sometimes exchange and numbers are boring but it is also about something else. Firstly money, so just think what money mean for you. And also it is about our world, which is only one and we have to save it.

The photo of dead Ernie Pyle

The photo of dead Ernie Pyle, the very famous war correspondent, has emerged recently as a bolt form the blue. It captures the corpse vested in Army fatigues, helmet on his head, boots untouched. The body lies in its reposeful position, hand hooked holding his military cap. At the first sight it might seem that the soldier is napping. Alas, the thin seepage of blood reveals that the person in the photo is dead. Ernie Pyle was killed in World War II in 1945, firstly buried among soldiers on Ie Shima. Four years later his body was transported to the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl Crater, near Honolulu. In the meantime, the photograph has never been published. It underwent verification, but none of the eight military repositories and history centers could distinguish the photo claiming that it was unknown to them. Even the most probable museum, the National Archives & Record Administration, proclaimed it had never seen the picture. The photograph was published by Richard Strasser (88), a naval officer at retirement. He was given a packet of pictures by George, a friend of Ernie Pyle. As Richard said he remembered the Pyle's visit shortly before he was killed. When Strasser returned to civilian life he decided to find out the content of the envelope. He was taken aback, of course, finding the photo of dead Ernie Pyle. He knew his widow was still alive and was contemplating whether to send it to her. Finally, he decided not to do so as he had confused feelings about it. According to Mark Foynes, director of The Wright Museum of World War II, the photography means a real treasury to American history.

Mac Is Back

Well, we all know that year 2008 is really important year in United States as it's a year of elections. But it's not only American affair. Because of a huge impact of United States (including economic, military and other issues) the whole world is concerned. Who will be the one? Who will be enjoying the "one of the most important and powerful person in the world" status? And as a Non American I'm interested in another question. Can we look forward to having first Afro-American president ever or to having first woman president ever? The thing is, outside US, the attention is mainly paid to two candidates of Democratic party. Honestly, I am much more familiar with Hillary's thrilling struggle to save her marriage and Barack's sprightly youth involving drugs. But what about Reps? John? Mitt? Mike? I'm sorry and I feel ashamed for my ignorance. Usually, these guys running for president are just a "what Hillary said and Barack declared" footnote. It's pity, because for example John McCain is quite interesting person that was nicknamed "Punk" and "McNasty" while being a hight school student. Moreover, being a Vietnam War veteran who survived imprisonment shows that he is apparently strong enough and fit into dangerous and unstable political environment. He is just little too old (if he was inaugurated, he would be the second oldest president). At least, he seems to have a sense of humor. Or how could you explain that he often calls himself being "older that dirt" or having "more scars that Frankenstein"? Actually, being unknown outside US is nothing to worry about as the ones who are voting and making decisions are only Americans.

Will be a deal reached?

After three month is there a chance to finish strike of Hollywood writers. A strike caused that entertainment industry get into troubles. A collapse of negotiation between negotiators and guild Dec. 7 didn't help the problem as well. Everything began with requirements of the alliance to take off the proposals for animation and reality shows unionization. After that moment negotiation has got to the impasse. This problem was finally solved by the director Guild of America and studio chiefs own talk Jan. 17 and a deal was announced. This deal is able to cover some of the digital media goals. Informal talks with top media company executives began on Jan. 23. Everything still turns around a new agreement, which needs to be signed. It is supposed to cover managing all the work for film, digital media and TV. There has been reached a breakthrough in contract talks between studios of Hollywood and writers in strike that could lead to a tentative deal. People connected to this problem are talking about a huge progress that both parties have made. It is possible that a deal will be announced in a short time. But the specific details haven't been noted yet. Most important thing writers want to achieve is higher payments for a work they have done. The deal needs to be approved by a majority of guilt members. This is the only way how it could be signed with both parties. Now the situation looks like guilds are decided to keep away from Grammy Awards. He is against images of crowds of supporters, war in Iraq and Hurricane Katrina's destruction. "We want an end to this war and we want diplomacy and peace," said Obama in his speech in Austin, Texas. He added: "Not only can we save the environment, we can create jobs and opportunity. We're tired of fear; we're tired of division. We want something new. We want to turn the page. More than 10 years of fun and glittery names

Probably every one of you knows Orpheus. He was one of the biggest poets and musicians from Greek Antiquity. He can sing and play on his lyre so beautifully that every man or animal was charmed by it. Carnivals

As a small child I loved all the carnivals and masquerades. It was so exciting. Later I found that it's not only a "party thing", but it has a long tradition in almost whole Europe and America. Carnival is a festival season. It's happening usually during the February, sometimes during the March. First day of the Carnival is 12 days after the Christmas, on January 6, and the last one is called Mardi Gras or Fat Tuesday. This is the day before Ash Wednesday. Its 47 days before Eastern. During the carnival people are celebrating, dancing and drinking, there are parades on the streets. Special balls are prepared, lots of people are wearing masks and costumes. I already said that carnivals are traditions. Because before Eastern there are 40 days of Lent, people wanted to use this opportunity and celebrate the last days before it. They had to prepare for the next 40 days without meat and alcohol. But it was like this in the past. Nowadays, most of the people don't care about traditions like Lent, but they still strongly care about the carnivals and parades. Most famous carnival in Europe is the Venice carnival in Italy. Almost everyone in this magic historical city is dressed in costumes or at least in a mask and celebrates. Many tourists from abroad come to Venice only because of this. In America is the most famous carnival in Rio de Janeiro. Main parts of this carnival are big parades with samba dance schools and half naked dancers. Almost every country has different traditions, but the reason is the same everywhere.

A new vision for unemployment

Many people who lost their job recently do not have to tremble. A new feasible opportunity is gaining ground. Recession, Microhoo, Wall Street, Wendy's, Whatever

All people who pay attention to what's going on in this world have been keeping their eye out for how the situation on the Wall Street looks like, how is the Dow Jones index reacting, how is the market performing, are listening carefully to what Fed's official are talking about and what the Bush's administration is going to do, are being interested in analyzing forecasts about whether US economy is tending to be in a real trouble (the economists call it recession) or they all gonna survive without significant damages so they can relax for a while. And all those world-consciousness people had to notice that balance is really delicate thing. One bad quarter report and numbers are bad, one short news about technology giant interested in buying an equity stake in another one and suddenly there's a flash of hope (even though the Microhoo thing is not likely to be successful. Nice try to beat the Google with really positive side-effect, though). Investors all around the world are taking a rest. Well, but all that calm is just quite deceptive. Maybe they are not doing anything visible, but they are impatiently waiting and turning their eyes on the new data and financial reports (of News Corp., Wendy's International among the others) to see if those can help to boost the weak US economy or not so they can reconsider what's gonna be their next step. What will they be going through? Heaven or hell? How will the hell look like? And how bad is really bad? Who knows? The balance is really delicate thing.

The Wall Street Journal said on Saturday, that U.S. government prosecutors are investigating UBS Bank. Swiss Banking giant is facing the accusation of reporting inflated prices of mortgage-backed securities. They held it in spite of knowing those valuations had eroded. The Journal also said, that U.S.Attorney for the Eastern District of New York had not yet lay out summon for this investigation. Unnamed sources added, that prosecutors from New York are cooperating hand in hand with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commision. UBS and also Merrill Lynch and Co Inc are examinated by SEC due to pricing of mortgage securities. And as it use to be, both the UBS and Merrill Lynch spokesman was not yet prepared to comment this situation. Economic markets across the Globe was hitted last week, because of credit crisis and UBS is not clause, for sure. They increased their subprime writedowns to $18.4 billion, after this bad situation on global markets. "We are looking into whether fraud occurred in the packaging and selling of complicated mortgage securities like collateralized debt oblibations," said U.S.Justice Departmnet, according to the Journal. Merrill Lynch and Co Inc is going to be invastigated because of suspicion of selling unsuitable mortgage related securities to Springfield city. New kind of cell phone soon on the market

At the World Mobile Congress in Barcelona new smart phone was introduced. This is an Android prototype, mobile phone that use Google's Android operating system and was made in cooperation with developers as Texas Instruments Inc. and Qualcomm Inc. This cell phone is pretended to debut on open-source operating system. Users can with this smart phone navigate Web by running a finger over display. It differ from other phones with it's full-size pages, not a Web resized, supported with mobile devices' small screen.

US Stocks Head for Largely Flat Open

Following a steep slide last week, U.S. stocks headed for a largely flat open Monday. Wall Street was trying to find out any insights that could figure how consumers are faring amid an economic slowdown. This week's reports could reveal the extend, to which concerns about rising prices, continued weakness in the housing market and an economic slowdown might be denting consumer spending.

Wall Street, a barometer of the economy, is impatient to find out, how well consumers are holding up as consumer spending comprises more than two- thirds of U.S. economic activity. Corporate deal-making came into a focus over the weekend. 44.6 USD takeover offer from Microsoft Corp. has been rejected by Yahoo Inc. Standard & Poor's 500 index futures rose 2.70, or 0.20 percent, to 1,333.00, and the Nasdaq composite index futures rose 2.50, or 0.14 percent to 1,779.00. Last week, Standard & Poor's 500 index declined 4.60 percent, and the Nasdaq composite index dropped 4.50 percent.

Dow Jones industrial average futures rose by 22, or 0.18 percent, to 12,199. Last week, the Dow fell by 4.40 percent. It is 14 percent below its Oct. 9 record close of 14,164.53, but about 4.7 percent above 15- month lows it hit in January. Bond prices rose to 3.66 percent from 3.65 percent late Friday. Light, sweet crude oil fell 2 cents to 91.75 USD per barrel. While the gold prices rose, was the dollar mixed against other major currencies. Japan's Nikkei stock average was closed for a holiday. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index finished down at 3.64 percent. Britain's FTSE 100 fell 0.51 percent. Germany's DAX index slid by 0.02 percent, and France's CAC- 40 fell by 0.17 percent.

The Volcano In Ecuador Explodes

Ecuador's Tungurahua volcano fired off wreaths of ash 6 miles into the air on Wednesday as the Geographic Institute proclaimed. 3,000 villagers living closely to volcano's slope were ordered to be evacuated. Luckily, no victims were found or reported. The director of Civil Defense, Roberto Rodriguez informed that more than 1,000 dwellers eloped from the western slant early in the morning. Some of the families that were not aware of the magnitude of the danger, refused to leave due to fear form larceny.

President Rafael Correa reported that all possible safety precautions are to be taken. He added that within this area the necessity of state of emergency will be prolonged to 60 days. The warning of the experts at the Geophysics Institute spreaded by informing that the volcano's activity is going to continue with no sign of fade. If Tungurahua volcano were to compare to similar situation in the past, the specialists would liken it to robust eruptions in 2006 causing the death of four people and thousands of people living without home.

Tungurahua has been active for 9 years. It seems that the volcano got into new eruptive cycle. It does not showing any deceleration. The mostly influenced areas included western acclivities, especially the communities of Bilbao, Cusua, Chacauro, and Puela. Fortunately, the closest famous destination Banos is not in danger. The word "Tungurahua" in the local aboriginal Quichua language means "throat for fire". Ash flushing form the volcano has covered wide extended area, ruining possessions, soil, equity, and brute.

Record Deficit Brought By George Bush's Budget

As the period of the current American President George Bush is coming to an end more and more black holes in the budget appear. Despite of rosy economic forecasts, that deficit in 2008, which represents $410 billion, will be reduced to $407 billion in 2009, they somehow, don't count with the war costs in Iraq and Afghanistan. More like a fairytale sounds Bush's promise from 2006 of a $48 billion surplus by 2012.

This calculation was based on the fact, that the war would cost only $70 in 2009 and nothing after it, that is for rights protecting American policy, of course unimaginable mystification. To cover the deficit, Bush tries to cut off more than 151programs to save $18 billion next year. Feverish searching for funds interferes all sorts of Medicare and popular domestic programs, for example, decline a universally supported food program for poor pregnant women and their children, cutting off the medical programs for veterans, followed by freezing of research grants. He motivates his budget message by creating the conditions for economic growth, keep taxes low and spend taxpayer dollars wisely or not at all.

More pragmatic is the opinion of Sen. Judd Gregg of New Hampshire, top Republican on the Budget Committee. He says that the deficit is not going to decline with the stimulus package and with the continuing war costs "In fact it's going to get very serious when you're hitting $400 billion deficits," he says. What is for sure, except of a comfort of new presidential office, the former head of the U.S. will face very difficult situation of managing the total federal debt of $5.9 trillion in 2009 - including foreign governments.

A New Vision For Unemployment

Many people who lost their job recently do not have to tremble. A new feasible
opportunity is gaining ground. In the middle of the most preferable American's regions producing wind energy is searching new skilled workforce. As the very most popular concern of the world is to safe our planet and eliminate the environmental dangers there is a need for so-called "green-collar" jobs.

The potential for this kind of job is rising markedly. TPI Composites Inc. is planning to built new plants within these regions that required wind energy. It aims to provide America with cleaner future, thus it will create new job opportunities too. These will include ethanol production, production of wind turbines, solar panels, and of course, the positions reliable for supporting and maintenance. As the original goal was to move the workforce from the Maytag-type to future favorable jobs, there is necessity to provide new employees with proper and accurate training. However, the old employees who are about to retire are afraid that they are no more trumpet-call for the new industries. Majority of people reckon that only young people would be required as they mean a profit and perspective for the future.

In addition, the base payment is significantly low to the one people had before. TPI stipulated to make more than 500 jobs and Unions see the opportunity to reinstate more than 3 million jobs to people who lost it in seven recent years.
